A wooden axe will not fell a stone tree. You need a Stone Axe or higher.
Axe tier requirement
Chop Chop Inc. gates tree types by axe material. Lower-tier axes cannot fell higher-tier trees; higher-tier axes work on everything below them.
Sir Worcestershire's quest chain first asks the player to try a stone tree, followed by the objectives “Upgrade your grindstone” and “Build a stone axe.” The interaction prompt reads: “Hit with your Stone Axe to destroy.”

Common mistakes

- Having a Stone Axe in your inventory is not enough — it has to be equipped in your hand slot.
- Damage scales with your Strength stat and the axe's Mk level. One player reported roughly 120 damage per hit with full Strength and a Mk4 Stone Axe.
- The large tree at the top of the mountain is a story object, not a regular stone tree. It is not meant to be felled at that point.
